Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 4-5 ripe tomatoes, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme leaves for garnish
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Roll out the puff pastry onto a floured surface and cut it into a circle slightly larger than your tart pan.
-
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they become soft and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
-
Sprinkle the brown sugar over the caramelized onions and stir until the sugar is melted and coats the onions evenly.
-
Grease a tart or pie dish and arrange the tomato slices in a single layer on the bottom.
-
Season the tomatoes with salt and pepper, then spread the caramelized onions on top.
-
Place the puff pastry over the onions and gently tuck the edges inside the pan.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
-
Allow the tart to cool for a few minutes, then carefully invert it onto a serving plate.
-
Garnish with fresh thyme leaves and serve warm.
