Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry

- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp sugar
- 200g of grated cheese (such as Gruyere or Cheddar)
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
-
Roll out the puff pastry and place it in a tart tin. Prick the base with a fork and blind bake for 10 minutes.

In a frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they become soft and caramelised, about 15 minutes. Sprinkle with sugar and continue cooking for another 5 minutes.
-
Spread the caramelised onions evenly over the pre-baked tart crust. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top.
-
Pour the beaten eggs over the cheese and onions. Season with salt and pepper.

Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
-
Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
