Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 lamb shanks
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
-
Season the lamb shanks with salt, black pepper, cumin, coriander, paprika, and cinnamon.
-
Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe pot over medium-high heat. Brown the lamb shanks on all sides, then remove them from the pot and set aside.
-
In the same pot, sauté the onion and garlic until softened, about 5 minutes.
-
Return the lamb shanks to the pot and add beef broth, honey, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste. Stir to combine.
-
Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven.
-
Cook for 2-2.5 hours, or until the lamb is tender and falling off the bone.
-
Remove the pot from the oven and transfer the lamb shanks to a serving dish.
-
Skim off any excess fat from the sauce. If the sauce is too thin, simmer it on the stovetop until it thickens.
-
Pour the sauce over the lamb shanks and serve hot.
