Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups of sugar
  • ½ cup of unsalted butter
  • 3 eggs
  • ¾ cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp of salt
  • ½ cup of all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup of chopped walnuts (optional)
  • Whipped cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish.

  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until well combined.

  4. Gradually add the melted butter, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix well.

  5. Fold in the flour until just combined. Stir in the chopped walnuts, if desired.

  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pie dish and smooth the top.

  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.

  8. Allow the pie to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.

  9. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
