  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup lard, cold and cubed
  • 4-6 tbsp ice water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour and salt.

  2. Add lard and cut it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. Add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together.

  4. Divide the dough into two equal-sized discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  5. Roll out one disc of dough on a lightly floured surface to fit your pie dish.

  6. Transfer the rolled-out dough to the pie dish and trim off any excess.

  7. Fill the pie with your desired filling.

  8. Roll out the second disc of dough and place it over the filling.

  9. Trim off any excess dough and crimp the edges to seal.

  10. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.
