How To Make Tangerine Upside-Down Cake

This cake has a citrusy twist with tangerine slices on top instead of the usual pineapple.

Ingredients

  • 2 tangerines, peeled and sliced into thin rounds
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 1/4 cup of milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. In a bowl mix melted butter and brown sugar together, then spread mixture evenly on bottom of a 8-inch cake pan.

  3. Arrange tangerine slices in a pattern over the brown sugar mixture.

  4. In a separate bowl, beat egg. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and milk, mixing well.

  5. Pour batter on top of the tangerine slices and smooth evenly.

  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  7. Let it cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a plate.

  8. Slice and serve.
