Ingredients

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 cups of semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, evaporated milk, butter, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil.

  2. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes.

  3. Remove from heat and quickly stir in the chocolate chips until completely melted and smooth.

  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and nuts (if using).

  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 8×8-inch baking dish and spread evenly.

  6. Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm.

  7. Cut into squares and serve.
