  • 4 slices of bread
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 4 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 can of pineapple rings
  • 12 maraschino cherries
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar. Spread this mixture evenly onto the bottom of a 9-inch round cake pan.

  3. Arrange the pineapple rings on top of the butter and sugar mixture, and place a cherry in the center of each pineapple ring.

  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  5. In a separate bowl, mix together the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

  6. Lay the bread slices on top of the pineapple and cherries, making sure to cover the entire pan.

  7. Pour the batter evenly over the bread slices, ensuring that all the bread is soaked.

  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate.

  10. Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
