  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and sugar.

  2. Add the melted butter, egg yolks, sour cream, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix well until a dough forms.

  3. On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough until smooth. Let it rest for 10 minutes.

  4. Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch. Use a pastry cutter or a sharp knife to cut the dough into thin strips, about 1 inch wide and 4 inches long. Make a small slit in the center of each strip and pull one end through it.

  5. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the dough strips in small batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

  6. Sprinkle the fried dough with powdered sugar while still warm.
