How To Make Angel Food Cake

Ingredients

  • 6 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup of cake flour
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cream of tartar
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).

  2. In a large bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy.

  3. Add the cream of tartar and salt, then continue beating until soft peaks form.

  4. Gradually add in the sugar, while still beating, until stiff peaks form.

  5. Sift the flour onto the egg white mixture and gently fold it in.

  6. Add the vanilla extract and gently fold to incorporate.

  7. Pour the batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan.

  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and springs back when lightly touched.

  9. Remove from the oven and immediately invert the pan to cool completely.

  10. Once cooled, run a knife around the edges of the pan to release the cake.
