Ingredients

  • 1 kg sauerkraut
  • 500g smoked bacon, diced
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sauerkraut under cold water and drain well.

  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat.

  3. Add the diced bacon and cook until browned and crispy.

  4. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and sauté until translucent.

  5. Stir in the sauerkraut, bay leaves, caraway seeds, and paprika.

  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. Cover the pot and simmer on low heat for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

  8. Remove the bay leaves before serving.

  9. Serve hot and enjoy!
