How To Make Rosh Hashanah Honey Cookies

Soft, sweet and delicious cookies perfect for the Jewish New Year.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in honey, egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.

  5. Gradually stir flour mixture into butter mixture until well combined.

  6. Using a small cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dough onto prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden brown around the edges.

  8. Let cool on baking sheet for 2-3 minutes before transferring to wire rack to cool completely.
