How To Make Real Italian Calzones Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 lb pizza dough
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

Divide the pizza dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll out each piece into a 8-inch circle.

Spread 1/4 cup of marinara sauce on one half of each dough circle, leaving a small border around the edges.

Top the sauce with 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, some pepperoni slices, black olives, and fresh basil.

Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together to seal.

Place the calzones on a baking sheet and brush with olive oil. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

Serve hot with remaining marinara sauce for dipping.
