How To Make Indian Tofu Matar Recipe

A mildly spicy dish made with tofu and green peas that goes well with rice or bread.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 block (14 oz) of firm tofu, diced
  • 1 tbsp of oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp of grated ginger
  • 1 green chili, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tsp of cumin powder
  • 1 tsp of coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp of red chili powder
  • 1 cup of green peas
  • salt to taste
  • chopped fresh coriander leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add onions, garlic, ginger, and green chili. Saute until onions turn translucent.

  2. Add tomatoes, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Cook until tomatoes turn mushy.

  3. Add tofu, green peas, and salt. Mix well and cook covered for 10-15 minutes or until peas are cooked and tofu is heated through.

  4. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
