Ingredients

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook macaroni according to package instructions until al dente.

  2. In a separate pot, melt butter over medium heat.

  3. Whisk in flour until smooth and cook for 1-2 minutes.

  4. Slowly pour in milk while whisking constantly and bring to a simmer.

  5. Add garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper, and whisk until combined.

  6. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened, stirring frequently.

  7. Remove from heat and add shredded cheese, whisking until melted and smooth.

  8. Drain macaroni and add to cheese sauce, stirring until coated.

  9. Serve hot and enjoy!
