How To Make Blue Ribbon Mac and Cheese Recipe

Creamy, cheesy and delicious mac and cheese with a crispy breadcrumb topping.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.

  2. Cook macaroni according to package instructions.

  3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth.

  4. Gradually add milk, whisking constantly. Stir in salt and pepper.

  5. Cook until sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.

  6. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheese until melted.

  7. Add cooked macaroni to cheese sauce and mix well.

  8. Pour mac and cheese into a baking dish.

  9. Sprinkle breadcrumbs on top of mac and cheese.

  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until top is golden brown.
