How To Make Aunt Susie’s Sausage and Peppers Recipe

Delicious sausage and peppers sautéed in a savory tomato sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of Italian sausage, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 (14 oz) can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 tsp of dried basil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp of olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat a large skillet over medium heat.

  2. Add olive oil, sliced sausage, and cook for 6-8 minutes until browned on all sides.

  3. Remove sausage from skillet and set aside.

  4. In the same skillet, sauté onion, garlic, red bell pepper, and green bell pepper until slightly tender, about 5-7 minutes.

  5. Add canned tomatoes, dried basil, salt, and black pepper and let simmer for 10-12 minutes until the sauce thickens.

  6. Add the sausage back to the skillet and stir until coated with the sauce.

  7. Let it cook for another 5-7 minutes until the sausage is fully cooked.

  8. Serve hot.
