  • ½cupbuttermilk
  • ½cupmilk,or half and half
  • 5eggs
  • 1tbspgranulated sugar
  • 2tbspall-purpose flour
  • tspbaking powder
  • tspsalt
  • ¾tspground cinnamon
  • pinchnutmeg
  • 1tspvanilla extract
  • 10slicesfrench bread,day old


  1. Preheat the nonstick griddle over medium heat.

  2. Combine the buttermilk, milk, eggs, sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract in a blender.

  3. Blend the mixture on low speed for 10 seconds.

  4. Pour the mixture into a shallow bowl.

  5. Butter the preheated griddle.

  6. Dip the bread into the blended mixture, making sure to cover both sides.

  7. Place the bread on the griddle, then cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until golden brown.

  8. Lift the french toast with a spatula, then butter griddle again and flip the bread back onto the griddle.

  9. Cook the opposite side until golden.

  10. Serve with maple syrup, and enjoy!
