Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes
- 1 small onion, grated
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
-
Peel and grate the potatoes. Place them in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out any excess moisture.
-
In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, grated onion, eggs, flour, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until everything is evenly incorporated.
-
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add enough vegetable oil to generously coat the bottom of the skillet.
-
Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the potato mixture into the hot skillet, pressing it down gently to form a pancake. Repeat with the remaining mixture, leaving space between each pancake.
-
Cook the pancakes for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove from the skillet and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
-
Serve the German potato pancakes hot, with sour cream or applesauce on the side.
