Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp instant yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup deli meat slices (such as ham or turkey)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar or Swiss)
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley or thyme)
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
-
In a separate small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water.
-
Add the yeast mixture, warm milk, and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until a soft dough forms.
-
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
-
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
-
Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
-
Flatten each ball of dough and place a slice of deli meat and a sprinkle of shredded cheese in the center.
-
Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, pinching to seal. Place the rolls seam-side down on a greased baking sheet.
-
Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle with chopped herbs.
-
Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
-
Serve warm, tearing and sharing with your loved ones.
