Total: 40 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.

  2. Gradually add the warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients, mixing well with a spoon until a soft dough forms.

  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a long rope.

  5. Join the ends of each rope to form a circle shape, pinching the ends together.

  6. Place the sesame seeds on a plate and dip each simit bread into the sesame seeds, pressing gently to make sure they stick.

  7. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  8. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the simit bread on it.

  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

  10. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
