Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
Add the cold butter to the dry ingredients. Using your fingertips or a pastry cutter, cut the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and vanilla extract. Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
-
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together. Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick.
-
Using a round cutter or a glass, cut out scones from the dough and place them onto the prepared baking sheet.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and cooked through.
-
Remove from the oven and allow the scones to cool slightly before serving.
