Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped onions
- 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 16-20 grape leaves, rinsed and drained (if using canned)
- Lemon wedges, for serving
Instructions
-
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the rice, olive oil, lemon juice, dill, mint, parsley, onions, tomatoes, garlic, salt, black pepper, cinnamon, and allspice. Mix well.
-
Place a grape leaf flat on a clean surface and spoon 1-2 tablespoons of the rice mixture onto the center of the leaf. Fold in the sides of the leaf and roll it up tightly. Repeat with the remaining grape leaves and rice mixture.
-
Place the dolmas in a large pot, seam side down, and cover them with water. Place a heat-resistant plate on top of the dolmas to keep them submerged. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 45-60 minutes, or until the rice is tender.
-
Remove the dolmas from the pot and serve hot or cold with lemon wedges.
