This sweet vinegar-based barbecue sauce is an ode to the Southern barbecue recipe. It’s fairly easy to make with ingredients from the pantry. Try it!

  • 4cupscider vinegar
  • 4cupswhite vinegar
  • 3cupswhite sugar
  • 1cupketchup
  • ½cupcrushed red pepper
  • 2tbspblack pepper
  • 2tbsppaprika
  • 1tbsponion powder
  • 1tbspbottled minced garlic
  • 1tbspsalt
  • cayenne pepper,to taste


  1. In a 1 gallon container with a lid, mix cider vinegar, white vinegar, and sugar until sugar has dissolved.

  2. Mix in ketchup, crushed red pepper, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic, salt, and cayenne pepper. Cover, and chill in the refrigerator.
