Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 20 minutes
Total: 30 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef or vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and cook until they release their liquid and become browned, about 8-10 minutes.

  2. Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir to coat evenly. Cook for 1-2 minutes to cook out the raw flour taste.

  3. Slowly whisk in the broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, until the gravy thickens.

  4. Stir in the cream and soy sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

  5. Remove from heat and serve hot over your favorite dishes.
