Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Add the onion, bell pepper, and celery to the pan and cook until they are softened, about 5 minutes.

  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.

  4. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, Cajun seasoning, dried thyme, and cayenne pepper to the pan. Stir to combine.

  5. Simmer the sauce over low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. Remove from heat and use as desired.
