Ingredients

  • 4 leftover hot cross buns
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).

  2. Slice the hot cross buns in half and place the halves in a greased 9×9 inch baking dish.

  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, raisins, and salt.

  4. Pour the custard mixture over the hot cross bun halves, making sure each piece is coated.

  5. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to let the bread absorb the custard.

  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown and set.
