Ingredients

  • 4 hot cross buns
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Butter or oil, for cooking

  1. Slice the hot cross buns in half horizontally to create bun “slices.”

  2. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

  3. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a small amount of butter or oil.

  4. Dip each bun slice into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.

  5. Place the soaked bun slices onto the hot skillet or griddle and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown.

  6. Remove the French toast dippers from the skillet and repeat with the remaining slices.
