How To Make Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 pounds of Yukon Gold potatoes
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 4 tablespoons of butter
- 1/4 cup of sour cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped chives for garnish (optional)
Instructions
-
Peel the potatoes and cut them into chunks. Place them in a large pot and cover with water.
-
Bring the water to a boil and cook the potatoes until they are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
-
Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
-
Add the milk, butter, and sour cream to the pot. Use a potato masher or electric mixer to mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
-
If serving immediately, transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving dish and garnish with chopped chives.
-
If making ahead, transfer the mashed potatoes to a greased baking dish and cover with foil. Refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
-
When ready to serve, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the foil from the baking dish and bake for 25 minutes, or until heated through.
-
Garnish with chopped chives before serving, if desired.
