Cooking: 20 minutes
Total: 1 hour 20 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sticky rice
  • 2 ripe mangoes
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sticky rice with water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.

  2. Drain the rice and steam it in a steamer for about 20 minutes, or until it becomes soft and sticky.

  3. While the rice is steaming, peel and slice the mangoes into thin slices.

  4. In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a simmer.

  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the coconut milk sauce cool.

  6. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a serving platter and flatten it out.

  7. Arrange the mango slices on top of the rice.

  8. Drizzle the coconut milk sauce over the mangoes and rice.

  9. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish.

  10. Serve the sticky rice and mango while the rice is still warm.
