Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 large cabbage head
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup uncooked rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
-
Remove the core from the cabbage head and carefully separate the leaves. Blanch the leaves in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
-
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, rice, onion, garlic, tomato paste, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
-
Take a cabbage leaf and place a small amount of the meat mixture in the center. Roll it up, tucking in the sides as you go. Repeat with the remaining leaves and filling.
-
Place the rolled cabbage leaves in a large pot, seam-side down. Pour in the broth and enough water to cover the cabbage rolls. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and let simmer for 2-3 hours, until the meat and rice are fully cooked and tender.
-
Serve hot and enjoy!
