How To Make Tomato and Basil Pasta Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 250g pasta of your choice
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions

Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, and sauté until translucent.

Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, dried basil, salt, and pepper to the pan. Stir well to combine.

Simmer the sauce on low heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

While the sauce cooks, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Once the sauce has thickened, taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.

Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss until well coated.

Serve the pasta with fresh basil leaves and grated Parmesan cheese on top.
