Wonton Olives Recipe

This is a spicy little appetizer that came to me while planning my son’s 21st birthday party. Deep-fried in peanut oil they were a hit served alone, but I suspect a dressing such as a ranch or blue cheese would have been nice for dipping.

The jalapeno stuffed olives mixed with cheese and wrapped with wonton wrappers is one of the best appetizers you can make that is easy and simple.

Prep: 5 mins
Cook: 15 mins
Total: 20 mins
Serves:

Ingredients

  • 24 jalapeno stuffed olives
  • 4 Tbsp cream cheese
  • 4 Tbsp sharp cheddar cheese, finley grated
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • oil , for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Remove the jalapenos from the olives and place them in a mini chopper with the two kinds of cheeses.

  2. Pulse until completely incorporated.

  3. Using a butter knife, carefully stuff each olive with this mixture.

  4. Place upside down in the middle of a wonton wrapper and bring the corners up over the bottom sealing each one with a drop of water.

  5. Wrap the sides close also sealing with water.

  6. This may be done in advance and when you are ready to serve, bring the oil to 256 degrees F and fry for 2 minutes.

  7. Cool slightly before serving.
