Ingredients

  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  3. In the Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, until lightly golden.

  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, making sure to remove any lumps. Cook for about 5 minutes, until the mixture thickens.

  5. Remove the pot from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth.

  6. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring well to coat.

  7. Place the Dutch oven in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly.

  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
