How To Make Wholemeal Cheese & Marmite Scones
These wholemeal scones are packed with cheesy goodness and a hint of savory marmite. A perfect snack or accompaniment to soup.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 200g wholemeal flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 50g unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 100g grated cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp Marmite
- 150ml milk
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl, mix together the wholemeal flour, baking powder, and salt. Rub in the cold butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
-
Stir in the grated cheddar cheese and Marmite.
-
Gradually pour in the milk, mixing until a soft dough forms. Be careful not to overmix.
-
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead a few times to bring it together. Roll out to about 2 cm thick.
-
Use a round cookie cutter to cut out scones and place them onto the prepared baking tray.
-
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and cooked through.
-
Serve warm with butter or additional Marmite, if desired.
