How To Make Vegetarian Broccoli and Cheese Casserole Recipe
A creamy and delicious broccoli and cheese casserole that is satisfyingly cheesy and filling.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 cups of chopped broccoli
- 1/2 cup of chopped onion
- 2 cloves of minced garlic
- 2 tbsp of butter
- 2 tbsp of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1/4 tsp of nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp of black pepper
- 1 cup of shredded cheese
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Cook the broccoli in boiling salted water for 5 minutes. Drain.

In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onions and garlic in butter.

Add flour and stir for a minute.

Add milk slowly while whisking to avoid lumps.

Cook for 2-3 minutes, then add nutmeg, salt, and pepper.

Add half the cheese to the sauce and stir until melted.

Add the cooked broccoli to the sauce and mix to coat the broccoli.

Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.

Sprinkle the remaining cheese and breadcrumbs on top.

Bake the casserole for 30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
