How To Make Shallot Tarte Tatin with Goat’s Cheese

Ingredients

  • 6 large shallots, peeled and halved
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 4 oz goat’s cheese, crumbled
  • Fresh thyme leaves, for garnish
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shallots and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.

  3. Sprinkle the brown sugar and balsamic vinegar over the shallots. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until caramelized.

  4. Place the puff pastry sheet over the caramelized shallots, tucking in the edges.

  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the pastry is golden and puffed.

  6. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Carefully invert the tart onto a serving plate.

  7. Sprinkle the crumbled goat’s cheese over the tart and garnish with fresh thyme leaves. Season with salt and pepper.

  8. Slice and serve warm.
