How To Make Tomato Galette

Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- ¼ cup ice water
- 4 large tomatoes, sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt together. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Gradually add the ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, while tossing with a fork until the dough comes together.

Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the dough into a 12-inch circle on a lightly floured surface.

Transfer the dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet.

In a small bowl, mix the olive oil and minced garlic together. Brush the mixture onto the dough, leaving a 2-inch border.

Arrange the tomato slices on top of the garlic mixture. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the tomatoes.

Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, pleating as needed. Season with salt and pepper.

Bake for 35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the tomatoes are softened.

Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh basil. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
