Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 35 minutes
Total: 45 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a 9-inch oven-safe skillet, combine the sugar and water. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and turns amber in color, about 5 minutes.

  3. Add the butter to the caramel and stir until melted and well combined.

  4. Peel the bananas and cut them in half lengthwise. Place them cut side down in the skillet, arranging them in a circular pattern.

  5. Cook the bananas in the caramel for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened.

  6. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to fit the size of the skillet. Place the pastry over the bananas and tuck in the edges.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.

  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Carefully invert the skillet onto a serving plate or platter.

  9. Dust the tart with powdered sugar and serve warm.
