How To Make Malai Kofta with Spicy Gravy

Ingredients
- For Koftas:
- 200g paneer, grated
- 2 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 2 tbsp cornflour
- 2 green chilies, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp ginger paste
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
- For Gravy:
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- 1/4 cup fresh cream
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine grated paneer, mashed potatoes, cornflour, green chilies, ginger paste, red chili powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well to form a smooth dough.

Divide the dough into small portions and shape them into round koftas.

Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the koftas until golden brown. Drain them on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

In a separate pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.

Add tomato puree and cook until oil separates.

Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Gradually add fresh cream and mix well to form a creamy gravy.

Add water as required to adjust the consistency of the gravy.

Gently place the fried koftas into the gravy and simmer for 5-7 minutes.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with naan or rice.
