How To Make Caramelised Shallots

Ingredients

  • 8 shallots, peeled and halved lengthwise
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. Add the shallots and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to brown.

  3. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the shallots and continue cooking for another 5 minutes, until they caramelize.

  4. Stir in the balsamic vinegar and cook for an additional 2 minutes, until the shallots are coated and glossy.

  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Serve hot as a delicious side dish.
