How To Make Pumpkin Spice Scones

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp pumpkin spice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, pumpkin spice, and salt.

  3. Add the cold cubed butter to the dry ingredients and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, milk, and vanilla extract.

  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.

  6. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and shape it into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut the circle into 8 equal wedges.

  7. Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with a little milk or melted butter for a golden finish.

  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and slightly firm to the touch.

  9. Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
