How To Make Pork Goulash with Herby Dumplings
A hearty and flavorful pork stew with tender dumplings infused with herbs.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs pork shoulder, cut into cubes
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup mixed fresh herbs (such as parsley, thyme, and chives), chopped
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
Instructions
-
In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat and brown the pork cubes on all sides. Remove from the pot and set aside.
-
In the same pot, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until softened.
-
Add the paprika and caraway seeds to the pot and cook for another minute.
-
Return the browned pork cubes to the pot and add the beef broth, crushed tomatoes, and diced bell peppers. Season with salt and pepper.
-
Bring the goulash to a simmer, then cover and cook on low heat for about 2 hours, or until the pork is tender and the flavors have melded together.
-
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and chopped fresh herbs. Gradually add in the milk and melted butter until you have a soft dough.
-
Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough onto the simmering goulash. Cover the pot and let the dumplings steam for about 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
-
Serve the pork goulash with herby dumplings hot, garnished with additional fresh herbs.
