How To Make Cheesy French Toast with Ham & Grilled Vine Tomatoes
Serves:
Ingredients
- 8 slices of bread
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
- 8 slices of ham
- 2 vine tomatoes, sliced
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
Instructions
-
Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
-
In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
-
Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
-
Place the dipped bread slices onto the preheated skillet or griddle.
-
Cook each side of the bread for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown.
-
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of each slice of bread and place a slice of ham on half of the slices.
-
Meanwhile, heat olive oil in a separate skillet over medium heat.
-
Add the sliced vine tomatoes and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side, until slightly softened.
-
Place the grilled tomatoes on top of the ham slices and cover with the remaining french toast slices to make sandwiches.
-
Cook the sandwiches for an additional 1-2 minutes on each side, until the cheese is melted and the ham is heated through.
-
Remove from the skillet and serve hot.
