How To Make Gluten-Free Chicken Cordon Bleu Recipe

A healthier, gluten-free version of the classic French dish made with chicken breasts, ham, and Swiss cheese.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 8 thin slices of ham
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup of gluten-free bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp of garlic powder
  • 1 tsp of dried thyme
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tbsp of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

  2. Place each chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound with a meat mallet until about ¼ inch thick.

  3. Season each breast with salt and pepper on both sides.

  4. Place 2 slices of ham and 1 slice of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast.

  5. Roll each breast tightly and secure with toothpicks.

  6. In a shallow dish, mix together gluten-free bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and thyme.

  7. Dip each chicken breast in the beaten eggs and then coat with the bread crumb mixture.

  8. Heat olive oil over medium-high heat in a large skillet and brown each chicken breast on all sides.

  9. Transfer chicken to a baking dish and bake in preheated oven for 20-30 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.

  10. Let cool for a few minutes and then remove toothpicks before serving.
