How To Make Pickled Eggs
Tangy and flavorful, Pickled Eggs are a classic appetizer perfect for serving at gatherings or snacking.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 8 eggs
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon pickling spice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
-
Place the eggs in a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 9 minutes.
-
Drain the eggs and transfer them to a bowl of ice water to cool completely. Once cooled, peel the eggs.
-
In a saucepan, combine the vinegar, water, pickling spice, salt, sugar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
-
Place the peeled eggs in a sterilized jar or container. Pour the hot pickling liquid over the eggs, making sure they are completely submerged.
-
Let the eggs cool to room temperature, then cover the jar/container and refrigerate for at least 1 week before serving. The longer they marinate, the stronger the flavor will be.
-
Serve the pickled eggs as a tangy and delicious appetizer or enjoy them sliced on top of salads or sandwiches.
