How To Make Easter Biscuits

These Easter biscuits are a delicious treat to enjoy during the holiday season.

Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 10 minutes
Total: 30 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 150g of plain flour
  • 75g of butter, softened
  • 50g of caster sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp of baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: food coloring and icing sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add in the beaten egg and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.

  4. In a separate bowl, sift in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.

  5. If desired, divide the dough and add a few drops of food coloring to each portion for a festive touch.

  6. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1cm thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them onto the prepared baking tray.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges.

  8. Allow the biscuits to cool on a wire rack before decorating with icing sugar, if desired.
