How To Make Czech Bread Dumplings (Knedlíky)

Traditional Czech bread dumplings, a must-have side dish. Soft and fluffy on the inside, perfect with sauces and gravies.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 cups of stale bread, cubed
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp of salt
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, pour milk over the stale bread cubes and let it soak for 10 minutes.

  2. After 10 minutes, add the eggs and salt. Mix well.

  3. Gradually add flour to the mixture and knead until the dough is soft and slightly sticky.

  4. Divide the dough into 4 portions and shape them into dumplings.

  5. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add salt to the water.

  6. Carefully drop the dumplings into the boiling water and cook for 20 minutes.

  7. Remove the dumplings from the water, drain, and let them cool slightly before serving.
