Ingredients

  • 4 pears, peeled and cut in half
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 star anise pods
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized pot, bring water, sugar, honey, star anise, and cinnamon stick to a boil.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium-low and add vanilla extract.
  3. Add the pears and poach for 10-15 minutes until soft.
  4. Remove from heat and let the pears cool in the syrup.
  5. Serve the cooled pears with a spoonful of the poaching syrup.
