How To Make Rich Spiced Hot Chocolate

Warm-up your winter days with this thick and creamy spiced hot chocolate. Add an extra kick by adding a sprinkle of Cayenne pepper with the cinnamon.

  • cupwhite sugar
  • cupcocoa powder
  • 2tbspground cinnamon
  • 1tspCayenne pepper
  • 1pinchsalt
  • 4cupswhole milk
  • 1tbspvanilla extract
  • ½cupheavy whipping cream


  1. Whisk sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and salt together in a small bowl.

  2. Bring milk to a boil in a saucepan, whisking constantly.

  3. Whisk in the cocoa mixture until dissolved, reduce heat to low, and simmer until flavors combine about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

  4. Stir cream into hot chocolate and pour into mugs.
